Volunteers are crucial in helping the We Care Foundation achieve its mission of ensuring that medically underserved and uninsured residents of Indian River County have access to free specialty medical services provided by compassionate healthcare volunteers.
Physician Volunteers
Join our partners in health in Indian River County, who donate time each year to help the medically indigent through the We Care program. Specialty physicians and other health care professionals currently provide volunteer care based on their availability and the client demand within our clinic. The number of qualified We Care patients is growing, and your participation is essential to the program’s ability to provide quality care promptly.
Participating in We Care involves signing a short contract, making you an “Agent of the State of Florida,” which provides additional professional liability protection as the volunteer work is covered by the State of Florida’s Sovereign Immunity program. This applies whether you provide the volunteer service at your office, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, or the We Care Clinic.

Nurse & Medical Student Volunteers
Join our partners in health in Indian River County who donate their time each year to support medically indigent patients through the We Care program. Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), and medical students play an essential role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care by providing clinical support, patient education, care coordination, and follow-up services based on their training, availability, and clinic needs.
As the number of qualified We Care patients continues to grow, volunteers across the care continuum are vital to the program’s ability to provide timely, patient-centered care. Your participation strengthens the care team and helps expand access to critical healthcare services for neighbors in need.

Event Committees
Our Event Committees are made up of dynamic volunteers who are the creative force behind our annual signature event and smaller fundraising events held throughout the year. Committee members work collaboratively to plan, build, and implement each event from concept to completion—bringing ideas to life while supporting the mission of the We Care Foundation.
Responsibilities are matched to each volunteer’s interests and strengths and may include developing the event vision, securing sponsorships, coordinating logistics, decorating, marketing support, and assisting with day-of setup and cleanup. Whether helping with one event or several throughout the year, committee members play a vital role in creating engaging experiences that raise critical support for neighbors in need.
