Volunteers and Supporters
Volunteers play a key role in helping the IRCMS Foundation for “We Care” achieve its mission to provide free health care services for Indian River County residents in need. If you would like to become a “We Care” volunteer, complete the Volunteer Application and email it to WeCareofIRC@att.net or mail it to IRCMS Foundation, P.O. Box 573, Vero Beach, FL 32961. For more information, call (772) 562-0123.
Physician Volunteers
Join your 120-plus colleagues in Indian River County who are donating time each calendar year to help the medically indigent through the Indian River County Medical Society’s “We Care” program. Specialty and primary care physicians, podiatrists, dentists and other Health Care professionals currently provide volunteer care on a rotating basis when their name is on the “care” list. The number of qualified We Care patients is growing and your participation is essential to the program’s ability to provide quality care in a timely manner.
Participating in “We Care” involves signing a short contract, making you an “agent of the State of Florida”, which provides additional professional liability protection as the volunteer work is covered by the Sovereign Immunity program of the State of Florida. This applies wherever you choose to provide the volunteer service (your office, Health Department or We Care Clinic).
Contact the We Care Program at (772) 794-7422 to begin. “We Care” is a great gift back to the community at large which supports our professional life and a special present to someone who really needs the service.
Mardi Gras Celebration Event Committee
The Mardi Gras Celebration Event Committee is a group of dynamic volunteers who are the masterminds behind all the fun at the Annual Mardi Gras Celebration, our biggest fundraiser of the year. Committee members work together to build and implement the celebration from start to finish. Tasks are assigned based on what the volunteer would like to do. Committee members are responsible for developing the vision for the Mardi Gras Celebration, securing sponsorships, decorating, day-of set up and cleanup, and more.
Day-Of Event Assistance
Event Assistants support event committees and provide day-of volunteer services. This can include checking guests in to an event, cashing guests out after an auction, working booths, helping with set-up and tear down, and selling raffle tickets and more.
