Vero Beach, FL – The sites, sounds, and flavors of New Orleans will return once again at The We Care Foundation of Indian River’s 4th annual Mardi Gras Celebration, set for February 17, 2018 from 5-10 p.m. at Oak Harbor Club in Vero Beach.
With an atmosphere reminiscent of the French Quarter, guests are invited to dance, dine, enjoy casino games and a silent auction, socialize and – most importantly – support the We Care program and its dedicated volunteer physicians.
Hala Laviolette, Vice President of Commercial Lending with CenterState Bank and Elizabeth White, Home Health Coordinator with Nurse On Call, co-chairs of the 2018 Mardi Gras Celebration said, “Due to the overwhelming success of the 2017 Mardi Gras event, we’re moving the 2018 celebration to a Saturday evening! The Saturday date will give guests an opportunity to truly indulge in all of the activities available from dining to dancing to the ultimate casino experience and more. In addition, we will honor the volunteer doctors and the continued success of the We Care program. We can’t wait to see everyone back – and don’t forget to bring a friend!”
Founded in 1991 as a cooperative venture between the Indian River County Medical Society, the IRC Health Department, and the IRC Hospital District, the We Care program coordinates free physician services for uninsured indigent patients in Indian River County. More than 130 volunteer physicians and other medical professionals donate care to as many as 3,000 qualified Indian River County residents each year. These donated services are valued at over $1 million annually.
The Mardi Gras Celebration is the We Care Foundation of Indian River’s signature fundraising event. Proceeds return directly to the Indian River County community to help meet We Care program and We Care Clinic non-physician ancillary medical or medically related needs for We Care patients. Examples include after-care wound dressing, cataract lenses, emergency prescription assistance, and transportation for medical appointments.
